DIY Kate Middleton Hat Band

Back in December, my friend Rose and I got together to DIY some headbands inspired by Kate Middleton. We hope people will find this tutorial to be a nice distraction during this time of social distancing. You can find it on Rose’s blog, Royal Caffeine, here. Let us know how we did in the comments.Continue reading “DIY Kate Middleton Hat Band”

Paperbag Waist Skirt Tutorial

A couple weeks ago, I got together with my best sewing friends for a day of fabric shopping, lunch and ice cream. We also went to the farmer’s market and I tried a lame attempt at #posingwithproduce since the squash I bought matched my skirt. To make one of these skirts for yourself, you canContinue reading “Paperbag Waist Skirt Tutorial”

Striped Chambray Tamarack Jacket

I had had my eye on the Tamarack Jacket by Grainline Studio for a while because I still wore my old North Face fleece jacket from college when the weather turned cool in the Fall and I wanted something more adult looking. Thankfully Jen Beeman, the owner of Grainline Studio, announced a new sew-along forContinue reading “Striped Chambray Tamarack Jacket”

A Tour Around the Walls of Our Studio Apartment (Because the Rest of It Is Too Messy to Show)

For the past two years (four for Kevin), we have lived in a tiny studio apartment in Queens. While we’ve made many happy memories here, the time has come for us to move on to a much nicer, roomier apartment in New Jersey. Since I spent the past two years trying to make this placeContinue reading “A Tour Around the Walls of Our Studio Apartment (Because the Rest of It Is Too Messy to Show)”

Caitlin’s Bridal Accessories

I can’t believe my friend Caitlin got married almost two years ago already. I was so honored when she asked me to be a bridesmaid and was even more excited when she let me make her veil and sash. The above collage features all the inspiration photos she sent me. I loved the short, layeredContinue reading “Caitlin’s Bridal Accessories”

Fabric Covered Shoe Box

Saturday night I sat down to tape together a PDF sewing pattern and watch “Say Yes to the Dress.” Then I went into the junk closet for something and found a shoe box I had been saving because I thought it was good quality. I immediately switched over to crafting something out of said shoeContinue reading “Fabric Covered Shoe Box”

Christmas Gifts 2017

Back in April, I decided I was going to try and make as many Christmas gifts as I could. My husband had been out of work since February and I was already panicking about how expensive gifts usually are because I am a worrier and like to make the worst of things. It was aContinue reading “Christmas Gifts 2017”

Scrap Fabric Coaster Tutorial

I’m always looking for projects to make in an attempt to get rid of fabric scraps I don’t know what to do with. I feel so bad throwing fabric away because of it’s impact on the environment but haven’t been able to find a place that takes fabric scraps yet. So one day this pastContinue reading “Scrap Fabric Coaster Tutorial”

A Flurry of Fens

A little over a year ago, I decided to treat myself to my first printed copy of an indie pattern for my birthday. I decided on the Fen Dress by¬†Fancy Tiger Crafts, which I purchased through¬†Indie Sew. I had seen it featured in a lot of Instagram posts and loved the relaxed, loose shape ofContinue reading “A Flurry of Fens”

Harry Potter Themed Bridal Shower

Back in April, my friends and I threw our dear friend, Lauren, a Harry Potter themed bridal shower because she is the ultimate book worm and this particular book series is a favorite among all of us. Since these books were such a vital part of our childhoods, this shower was a lot of fun to plan and I thought it’d be fun to share about it in my first blog post because so many hours went into the execution of it all (lead by our fearless leaders, bridesmaid MVPs Sara and Sahar!)
